I regularly use a couple of advanced notetaking tools simultaneously, for I usually need different features of each. I'd be lost without notetaking software. Excellent reviews Djiezes, many many thanks! invictus, take a look at OneNote from MS - an excellent piece of software, especially so if you have a tabletPC. I'm currently using OneNote, im fairly happy with it at the moment. But I wish there were some better drawing tools, and also a way to just insert a table other than having to use tabs to make tables. It was meant to be a tabletPC tool and I think for that the drawing is fine. As for tables - they have to have upgrade path Thanks RecordSage, I'll give it a try. Looks like there's a trial version of it at MS site. Right, they have one... it's too bad you're so far away, I'd give you the one I have (I bought one from MS and then got extra one in one of their seminars). Anyway, keep in mind that it also allows you to record voice comments to go with your written/drawn notes, which is also pretty nifty. Oh, thanks RecordSage. Yes, it would be great if we all could be in a smaller "clipmarkers geography". Besides exchanging stuff, we could even organize some bar meetings on weekends once in a while. I downloaded and installed the trial version of One Note 2003 and it looks fine with some very powerful features. However, a friend of mine today told to me that MS was about to launch the new version (One Note 2007) along with the new Office package. What would you suggest? Should I use the one I downloaded and purchase a license before the trial period expired, or, should I take my time and wait for the new version to come while using this for 60 days? But if the new one won't have backwards c... No Google Notebook ? Awesome clip Djiezes. Soooooooo useful for me. I can't give you an educated answer because I haven't seen the OneNote2007 yet. The current version is a little dated, but it's still a good program (I use it almost daily for all kinds of stuff, although to be honest, ever since I wrote Record Sage - it took a lot of oomph from the OneNote, because I can keep a lot of things online and that's a huge benefit to me). I can tell you from some MS seminars I've attended that the new Office is a major redo of the old. It's a much more thought out product with upgrade features I haven't seen for a long time from MS. They totally revamped the user interface and made this version worth upgrading to, in my opinion, something I couldn't say for at... BTW, if the only thing that's stopping you from trying this is compatibility - don't worry. I have no doubt the new version will easily be able to pull old's data. Microsoft is generally pretty good about that. If you like this review, then surely check out the rest of this site donationcoder. Usually, when doing a round up, comparison & review they're totally spot on when it comes to picking the best, and the reviews are very extensive and thorough. In their opinion: The best email client is The Bat, and the best text-editor is Ultra-Edit. 2 things I just can't stop agreeing with. They also have a quite nice selection of their own software, ... Djiezes, not to get off the subject, but do you like TheBat better than Thunderbird? Sorry I can't be of more help.No RecordSage, you really helped much. Thanks. RS: yep. Don't get me wrong, Thunderbird is pretty good & handles mutliple accounts quite well. Plus it's free & opensource. But I can't part with the extreme filtering capabilities, virtual folders, high configurability/customizability The Bat provides. I also like it's encrypted database, automatic scheduled backup & ticker notification & highly configurable semi-automatic use of templates. I also experienced it handles huge amounts of data very well. Anyway, make up your own mind & maybe check out this interesting emailclient comparison: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_e-mail_clients Even more offtopic: An excellent freeware alternative to text-editors is PSPad (imho) Thanks Djiezes... unfortunately the Bat fails like pretty much every other one in programmability |
