Robert Bateman is someone whose works need to be universally displayed in all of the world's great museums. His is a message that totally grips the emotions which respond to the horrific consequences that await our disregard of God's gifts of nature to us. His critics, who derisively portray him as a mere illustrator, are reminiscent of Norman Rockwell's contemporary detractors, who foolishly labeled him as a mere illustrator of magazine covers. Perhaps the Luke 4:24 epigram, "No prophet is accepted in his own country," applies to great artists, as well.
