It is, in fact, both hard and wonderful to come here every day. Wonderful animals, smiling and happy, leaving us for their new homes. Wonderful animals, brought to us ill and injured, being made well by caring and compassionate staff and volunteers so that they then, too, can find their new families. Wonderful people, staff and volunteers, working to make a difference. Wonderful people, coming to us to help us save these thousands of wonderful lives.

To be a part of that, to know that every day has that as its purpose, it is truly wonderful. Hard and wonderful, and I am grateful for the opportunity.
