BartendingBear says: If it isn't one thing, it's another. Great - what we all need. This has been going on well before 1992. It's all about control, and dissent. Not surprising that yet another country wanting independence has to fight for that right. Freedom has a price you know. Why does Russia need Georgia for don't they already have enough resources? Quick where is the U.N.! If I remember right it had alot to do with OIL and gas resources. Imagine that. Russia, you know, the guys who were against the Iraq war. Videos and many links here: http://blog.puppetgov.com/?p=7214 These are not provinces of Russia and the situation is very complicated. Ossetia claims independence backed by Russia while Georgia claims that this is a way for Russia to shot down Georgia's entrance into NATO and to re-affirm control over the former Soviet state. Loose-loose for all. the situation is very complicated. No, and once again its about natural resources and who will control them. Both sides want control of the oil and gas. Georgia is not as well off if they have nothing to offer the world. With a NATO membership, gas and oil supplies and a pipeline in the works, it gives them the edge, and that pisses off Putin. Complicated because of the competing claims, the U.S. position (2000 Georgian troops in Iraq), crazy oil prices and the like. Both sides are raising the stakes, hoping the other won't double down. If that fails it will be a long bloody war. |
