AtlLiberal says: Still think we've "gotten over it"? Still think racism is not a problem in this day and age? Think again. Are you under the impression that Atlanta is a cosmopolitan city that has overcome its racist past? Well, the spirit of Lester Maddox is alive and well. Here's the results from an unscientific survey conducted by the Atlanta newspaper about the t-shirt being sold. It's racist - 45.22%Enough said. This is very disappointing. Wow, sorry wrong place for that comment. My bad. Crud, not again. Apparently my machine is mixing my comments. As for the clip above, what do you expect from the Rush Limbaugh crowd? what do you expect from the Rush Limbaugh crowd?I suppose I expect them to keep their racist, ethnophobic, homophobic bigoted comments to themselves. Yeah, I know, it's too much to ask... Yet if the shirt said Bush 04 you would be laughing it up. Nope, because it would not constitute a racial slur, only a joke on his intelligence or lack there off, although I think it would be a grave insult to Curious George to be compared with with incurious Presidential namesake. As an example, if someone called Obama oh I don't know, Dumbo (cause of his ears) that would not be a racial slur, as opposed to equating a African-American with a simian. If you can make the comparison to one politician, but not to another because of his race, then that in itself is racist. Believing one person should get special treatment because of race is racist. @ratilfar I see that you have gotten sucked in to trying to debate this n2sooners. I found out long ago the futility of having an intelligent conversation with this person and have blocked him/her from appearing. But it's your dime. You evidently have more patience than I have. Good luck! What now n2? It is racist because it is a racial slur, that tars all African-Americans. No "special treatment" there. I guess you bought into the "down is up" GOP social theory there. Go luck with that one. @AltLiberal As long as n2 doesn't dive into the mud to try to win an argument, I don't see a need to block him, unlike some other people. But those people (or that person) I simply deride endlessly. You should not feed the trolls, but you can serve them up for dinner. @ratilfar You make a good point. I guess I don't have the patience to continually answer the same refuted arguments over and over again. I'd much rather confront someone who thinks for themselves over someone who simply spouts the bumper sticker sloganeering sound bites of the extremists. It's much like trying to argue with a tape recorder. But have fun. I can still enjoy your replies without even having to be subjected to his end. Anyway, I didn't actually block him. That I reserve for serious threats. N2 is merely a nuisance. |
