This is a favorite pet peeve of mine. So here goes the rant.

Parents, turn off your televisions and give your children thoughtfully-selected and age-appropriate books. We are not doing our future or theirs any favors by allowing eight year-olds to learn those things that it used to take twelve to fifteen years to learn.

Sex sells, disrespect gets more laughs, aggression and conflict equals more tension which equals drama which leads to increased viewing audience size, which is basically the only thing television producers and product advertisers are interested in.

Raising good little puppet-consumers while teaching them disrespect for everything you can imagine and intolerance to anything...

Raising good little puppet-consumers while teaching them disrespect for everything you can imagine and intolerance to anything or anyone different than them is detrimental to, dare I say it, world peace. Think about it in terms of everything that is necessary for peace to be lasting.

You cannot over-state the danger of a device that so completely holds your child’s attention that it undermines your child’s imagination with its own form of reality.
