It appears our Communist neighbour off the coast of Florida, is pulling ahead of the U.S. on some very important social issues, including legal recognition of same-sex couples. Seems to me that the U.S. is falling behind many countries as it regards these issues. We are actually the only major military power that does not permit homosexuals to serve openly and with pride in our armed forces. When we will all just grow up?

They keep their dissidents locked away and vastly prohibit the freedoms of all their citizens...but, hey, at least they allow two dudes to marry each other.

Deb, I am really confused by your reaction to my comments. I don't believe I was complaining about anything other than the fact that the U.S. is NOT permitting the same things that Cuba and other countries are allowing. Was I not clear, or did I actually imply something that seemed negative? I have to admit, I am in a lot of pain lately, and focusing is somewhat difficult for me these days. So, if I appeared to be negative in my comments, please forgive me, as that is certainly not my intention.

I'm sorry I didn't make that clear. I'm actually objecting to Brazil's and Jatfla's comments. I am completely siding with you. I see, where you might have misunderstood that, but I'm asking Brazil and Jatfla what their objection is, not you. I'm saying that you (Zasel) cited a specific recognition for gays and I wonder why they both objected to that? And I also wondered what was so upsetting about it?
