Is this some kind of a spin? Even if this is a fact, this is a blessed underestimation. The sooner we change to renewable energy sources the better irrespective to oil reserves.

Even if oil were unlimited, infinite, and would flow unimpeded from the pumps forever... we would STILL need to find different ways of doing things. Even if we have enough oil to use as an input, we can't deal with its outputs.

And we have GOT to get beyond the personal-vehicle paradigm.

I live in a rural area, it's 20 miles to drive one way before I get to a road that will take me somewhere--I also live west of the Mississippi River where distances between large towns/cities are further apart. There is no such thing as public transportation in a rural area and will never be--not economical, not enough customers--too many people work at too many different places so sharing rides is out--until city residents & suburbanites come up with a viable solution for rural areas--you are just blowing so much smoke! Electric cars for a rural area, surely you jest! Already my commute times are terrible at 5 mph over the speed limit (60 miles one way commute)--an electric car is ludicr...

Honestly I think these urbanites have never been a mile outside of their city. They just assume that the rest of the world must be just like their huge metropolis

I live in a big city where public transportations is a pain. Until we fix our own problems everything means noting. It is not a questions of how much oil is left, IMO the answer is in between. Hybrid cars and trucks is a great idea but at that price we can buy a whole lot of gas. Personal cars IMO is here to stay and so is gasoline price. All I can think of is spending less on unnecessary stuff so I can power up my car and go to work and eat. Thanks to all the farmers we have something to thank for. So till that day we have the answer, we are only bitching. I like the idea of nuclear with wind and solar and gas. We really need whatever energy we can harness to keep our industry going. So good luck to all of us.
