I live in a rural area, it's 20 miles to drive one way before I get to a road that will take me somewhere--I also live west of the Mississippi River where distances between large towns/cities are further apart. There is no such thing as public transportation in a rural area and will never be--not economical, not enough customers--too many people work at too many different places so sharing rides is out--until city residents & suburbanites come up with a viable solution for rural areas--you are just blowing so much smoke! It's the same fight we've having over high speed internet--not enough people to justify running DSL. So Lexica, the personal-vehicle is my only transportation and will be for the foreseeable future. I just wrote my Democratic Senator the other day--her answer was she was not going to vote to start drilling off shore or in Alaska--but was voting for alternatives (you can guess when she comes up for election that my vote won't go for her), also wrote about getting more nuclear power plants approved and again her answer was no. So I'm waiting like I did in the 70's, when the economy goes in the tank, we'll see how fast oil drilling and building new refineries get voted into being.
