The history of the ocean is hidden in the sands. The waves being one of the Earth's biggest grinders. Time can allow them to wear down the highest mountains, the strongest rock, the most beautiful shells, into a melange of colour. Then once again the sand over time becomes rock, which will rise to become mountains.

I remember eating sand as a kid, can’t say that I liked that much. It was all grainy and made that horrible crunching noise. Found this little gem (pun intended) online: http://news.softpedia.com/news/Eat-Sand-to-Stay-Fit-and-Preserve-Your-Health-37135.shtml

Superb. Good find arifsali.

Interesting read, Brim, but I opt for a shorter, unhealthier life rather than chew sand.

"Although I quit mud concrete, I could not get rid of eating sand. I eat on an average around one or one-and-a-half kilos of sand per day,"---WTF? What kind of sand?

Those are amazing pics! I love on the eastern shore of Maryland with 600 miles of waterfront! I will have to see what our sand looks like!

They look like a bunch of microscopic jewels - Who would have thought you'd find all this amongst grains of sand - Awesome!
