I am understanding to all of what is being commented in this Clip. Some of which I do agree with but not all.
It should be the parents responsibility to teach their children to know when enough it enough. This is true. Although if you have children who are ADD/ADHD then you have your hands full. Not that this is a reason for the disturbances. Although I have a daughter who has 3 older children with ADHD & 2 younger children with a mild form of this as well, & a husband who is also full blown ADHD. Now here is a possible answer to both the problems of LOUD CHILDREN & DOGS. If to no avail. where the neighbors will not work with you on their roudy children or dogs. As this...

It should be the parents responsibility to teach their children to know when enough it enough. This is true. Although if you have children who are ADD/ADHD then you have your hands full. Not that this is a reason for the disturbances. Although I have a daughter who has 3 older children with ADHD & 2 younger children with a mild form of this as well, & a husband who is also full blown ADHD. Now here is a possible answer to both the problems of LOUD CHILDREN & DOGS. If to no avail. where the neighbors will not work with you on their roudy children or dogs. As this one neighbor did to have some peace & quite. They (the neighbors) built a fence that was about 6 to 7 ft tall. Not only did they get their privacy, but they got peace & quiet. Now that doesn't mean that my daughter & her husband hasn't worked on the NOISE because they have. It is just going to take some undoing with this family. Due to their father being a loud person to begin with, so he also has to make an effort to change his ways. And that could be a problem due to his age. On the other hand if sewing is the only way we can accomplish something then - maybe you should have the people put up a fence so that they can take on the reponsibilty & financial problem. Or maybe you could come together & figure out a way for both of the neighbors can pay to have the fence erected for both of them.
It is too bad that we all just can't get along in this world instead of having to sue people for things that could be worked out. We all need to listen to each other & stop being so selfish. Before we had all this technology & times were rough, we all had to work together to help each other. Maybe we could all learn something from our grandparents & great grandparents were among us. Take time to Listen, Learn from each other & work together. After all you choose to live there.

I think teaching them to play music is great, but when I come home after a long day of work, the last thing I want to listen to is a kid learning the drums, or their keyboard turned all the way up so the mom can hear them play from the kitchen. We complained to the landlord (we live in an apartment building after all) and the landlord sided with us. We made a deal with them that they could practice their instruments during the day (Monday-Friday), but not weekends or evenings. That seems to have worked (the landlord wanted them to stop completely, but we felt that that wasn't fair to the kids, music is a very important part of education IMO).

Now they still run around the back yard (which is against building regulations) playing with toy guns, but that doesn't really bother us much (well, the guns bother us, the playing is just normal.. kids SHOULD be outside playing.. and they aren't very loud at all).

I think many people have lost the idea of respect for one's neighbors. And in doing so they have failed to teach this idea to their kids.

My g/f who is a nanny, will take the kids of the bus and walk (it's only a few blocks) if they are being too loud and disturbing other passengers. She has only had to do this once or twice, the kids got ti pretty much right away and are quiet on the bus now. (well as quiet as a 4 year old can be)

We plan on teaching our kids respect (for others and themselves).

I'm 26, though I feel like I'm a grandmother who is paranoid that kids are playing in my yard. Unfortunately I'm not paranoid. The neighborhood kids think that they own the entire block. They "hang out" in the middle of the street with thier bikes to just outside of my house. They yell, scream and curse like sailors all day. They litter my grandfather's yard and garden from soda cans to shoes. I always find them and I just throw them over the wall and into the street. They even egged our house for God's sake! I have lectured them (ranging from 3 to 8) that they are too loud and to not litter our yard. They just roll thier eyes and ride away on thier bikes, but that doesn't stop them...

I live in Hawaii, so the whole "Aloha Spirit" is non exsistant. Parents let thier kids play out in the streets in the wee hours of the morning to at least 11pm. I know that we all work during the day but having your kids just run around with no supervision?? I don't want to come home from a long day at work to see rubbish in my yard and having to dodge the bikes that are in the middle of the street. Talking to thier parents don't do a thing. They always say, "well we were kids once, you never played in the streets?" Yeah, but I never yelled out "Get the F out of my way you a***ho**!" and completely distroy someone else's property. I really feel that most of the parents in Hawaii really need to teach thier kids to have more respect to others. I was born and raised in Hawaii but my parents never told me to play in the streets and do whatever I wanted to. I'm almost to the point of just calling the police the next time they are cussing out each other or just making a big noise outside my house. I mean, what is so great about my house anyway!? From this experience, I don't want kids.
