Isn't the FDA part of the War on Drugs?
'Legal' drugs seem to be responsible for quite a large percentage of drug related deaths. Even when they are substances approved by the FDA. I can't quote numbers, but the way lobby groups work, Pharmaceutical companies seem far more concerned with profits than public health. If drug testing needs to be done long term or over a wide range if ethnic minorities, or the infinite range of quirks in DNA. the general public will do just fine. I'm still amazed that after hundreds of years of nicotine consumption, they only decided it was dangerous over the last few years. Not half as dangerous as exhaust fumes - but we 'need' cars. Well petrol companies do. D...

We may "need" cars now, but we didn't always. Life was fine without them at one time, but greed has brought the situation to where it is now, greed and propaganda.
