Sounds unlikely, but the point is made that the images we see that have been taken by the Hubble, Chandra X-Ray, and Spitzer infra Red Telescopes, are graphis representations of wavelengths outside the visible spectrum. There is no reason a blind person would have any less accurate picture of the Universe than a sighted person. Perhaps their view can be clearer, because they are not made blind by preconception. i hope the Universe won't end up like this old joke: one day Ray Charles stands in the kitchen handling a strainer and says: who the F** wrote these nonsense ?? .... I love the idea of representing things in a novel way. Very complicated stuff, as pointed out above, often gets 'boxed off' into a concept so our perception of it is often quite unsubtle. Recently I have been experiencing 'time' in auditory sensations/representations. (I mean I have been listening to the products of people who have made these representations!) |
