My answer to his question is this:

To learn, love & perpetuate ourselves.

Why bother with trying to "find a god"?

Aren't these three things hard enough to do already?

I think that those who are incapable of learning, loving and reproducing wanted answers why :

"Why is this difficult to understand?"
"Why did she leave me?"
"Why can't I get laid?"
"Why is the world so unfair?"

And so the concept of 'god', and promise of heaven and divine retribution and justice that go along with it were born. The root of religion is a revenge fantasy, where the injustices of life are all made good again.

This is why religious people support oppression and violence toward others.
