Homeschoolers have no problem learning to be sociable (interacting with other people), but they often do not fit the "mold" of good little cogs of the state. Maybe the grander question behind this insight, is how did we get to this point of educational degradation? I think we took a variety of detours/distractions along the way, but some of the most pivitol errors rest in our growing willingness to desire safety over freedom, removing the affective domain out of our educational curriculums, accepting lowering of standards so as to equalize ourselves to the lowest common denominator of learning outcomes, accepting standardized testing as a valid indicator of learning, accepting that our differences have ascendancy over our sameness, allowing money/fame/position to define one as better than others, advocating tolerance over acceptance, and allowin... |
