You flying over for the opening then, Invictus? Al is a funny guy, but not that funny. This was such an informative film. I suggest everyone go and see it if you have a chance. Not much info on the website if you have already seen the film first. Otherwise the website is a broad starting point. The movie itslef was like listening to a college lecture, I like that sort of thing but I'm sure plenty of people don't Regardless, it was full of facts and the god awful truth. Forget what you think you know, go and see this film with an open mind. If you, in fact, went in with an open mind, it closed at some point later, as this evidences: it was full of facts and the god awful truth Indeed, Gore lays out a well developed argument. I've been on the fence about how serious this issue was, this movie pretty much made up my mind. Beware the pitfalls of the well developed argument GD...point made. It's hard to have objective truth with any film especialy with one like this. There is always a story that isn't being told. The story is starting to be told. There has been a lot of information left out of the debate and the left/socialist agenda is starting to unmask itself. I am not saying global warming is not a real threat. What I am saying is we need alot more information from both sides of the debate. The left has been very good at minimalizing the debate by saying such things as "all reputable scientists agree" and other such statements. There are opposing views. The chicken-little scare tactics are becoming more bold. This film is a wake-up call and should be seen by everyone. It's merely a starting point, that is, it just frames the issue. But it does so in such a visceral way you cannot deny the impact. The images of the melting glaciers are just breath taking, undeniable and emotionally shaking to the core. Umm, Mattspe.. I'm glad you were awakened. Sounds as if you were easily convinced of the Gore religous movement. However, take a deep breath and relax.. The image of "melting glaciers" ... not really melting... No this is a geologic phenom called calving. It always occurs, even during Ice ages. I welcome you to check out my clips on this subject. The debate on global warming has not really even begun...If you truly have an open mind, you may find yourself a skeptic. You could not be more misinformed. There is no debate in the scientific community, rather there is consensus that A) Global warming is real and B) human activities are part of the reason. Don't take my word for it. Read the words of the worlds most respected scientific organizations: - the reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) - reports from the National Academy of Sciences - The American Meteorological Society - The American Geophysical Union - The American Association for the Advancement of Science - Arctic Climate Impact Assessment -- a consortium of eight countries, including Russia and the United States I'm more than open to debate. But where is this deba... 5-star comment, matt! (But wait for the "scientific consipracy" charges after this...they're inevitable...) Beware the pitfalls of the well developed argumentSage advice indeed. Matt, are you saying that EVERY scientist on that list you produced works for an oil company (along with the ones Wikipedia missed)? Even most would be hard to believe. One lives in Paris. France is a socialism, not a communism, so who hired him? A small oil company? That many scientists ALL being wrong or severely biased is way too implausible. France is a socialism, not a communism, so who hired him? A small oil company?thinboy00, meet Total. Total, meet thinboy00. Disclaimer: I have no idea whether or not any French scientist is on the payroll of an oil company. I just wanted to put to rest thinboy00's misperception that France could never be home to a large oil company. 5-star comment, matt!Brilliant! the reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)READ THE DAMN REPORT. I'm tired of you ignorant buffons who have never read any part of the reports pretend to know what they say based on the media's spinning of the SPMs. IPCC, 2001a, pg 97 - "The fact that the global mean temerature has increased since the late 19th century (which, by the way, is no longer factually accurate) does not mean that an anbthropogenic effect on the environment has been IDENTIFIED. Climate has always varied on all timescales, so the observed change may be natural" The IPCC has never retracted, revised, or found infor... |
