ericskiff says: Wow. Definitely a departure for Ebay. It seems like more and more players are starting to jump in to scarf up smaller web 2.0 startups. StumbleUpon has only raised $1.5 million in a single round of seed financing previously. ..only 1.5 million in seed money and look what they achieved. A huge user base, and *possible* aquisition within a very short time. Impressive. How is this going to affect Stumblers???? I love my Stumble site! Why does everything have to be about money? sigh I'll tell you how its going to affect them. Ebay will spam the Stumblers with 'related content' based on what they view. I have a feeling that 'Stumblers' are soon to become 'Grumblers'. lol Better stick with Clipmarks ... for as long as we can Money, greed. power: The whole damn acquisition trend reminds me of Pacman ----- in a depressing way LOL socratoad...that's a great analogy. I don't want to judge, because it's hard to say how i'd react if that kind of money was staring me in the face. But one of the things i really hate about the web right now is it seems that so many companies are just racing to fill some kind of demand (so many of them are pretty worthless in my opinion) in the hopes of quickly getting acquired. I don't think this way of SU at all...i like their service a lot and believe they are very genuine about what they are trying to accomplish. DONT DO IT EBAY!!!! PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEz! Well,I doubt that I'll be seeing a lot of Stumble upon sites then! With my experience of ebay, there will be pop ups plastered all over, and countless emails dealing with totally useless ebay things! No doubt my excellent "Gmail" spam filter and my excellent pop up blocker will stop most getting through, but will the Stumbleupon site be worthwhile using? sigh...*POP* Very piercing comment, thinboy00, but I don't understand it! |
