Religion has the right to set up their own schools. Many benefits go with this such as no taxes, school grants (in Australia over the last 10 years the private schools have been given more than ever.) Despite this, they still want to run the govt schools. Pay taxes or butt out. Be religious and hand back the money to be spent to give the children of the haves an unfair advantage. .

You mean like banning prayer in schools or banning people from giving out free Bibles or like arresting people for handing out religious literature on public sidewalks near schools or banning students from even mentioning God in their own speeches or students being prevented from singing religious songs in school talent shows......?

Well, since we are talking about a Canadian school, here, no.

In Canada, religion has not place in public schools. bibles aren't banned, students can mention God all they want (as long as they aren't proselytizing, even then it takes a real nit-picky principal or a complaint from a student who is feeling harassed for something to happen about it)...

I completely disagree.. hear me out.

The only religion that should be taught in school is religious theory. The class should cover all major religions and with some study on the minor and more abstract ones too. The class would be similar to Sociology (teaching about society in general), Political Science (local and world politics), and Geography... These classes help our children get a better understanding of the world, understand our own and other's cultures, beliefs, etc.

Religion should be taught at home. Everyone's religious beliefs are different. Even people who go to the same church differ on subjects. So why...
