"Shklar denies that felt acts of injustice can ever be entirely eliminated. Still, because the line between misfortune and injustice is so vague, we must always allow for the expression of felt injustices on the part of those who think they have been victimized and democracy, in contrast to other regimes, not only allows for such expressions but thrives on them. For only if we voice our sense of injustice can we keep politicians honest and ourselves actively involved in our own rule."

It's difficult being a voice for social change especially at a time when this country; the country I love, is so divided, but it's my particular freedom from bondage and the shackles of what we are supposed to believe to be free.

How do you rub out eight years of evil? I suppose all need to see it for what it was. Some hard work that won't happen.

But people of many faiths, along with people who profess no faith, usually are committed to justice, to helping the poor, and even to peace. Their practices of how to implement those principles may vary widely. But perhaps in dialogue, we can say (using justice as an example), "Look, we both want justice here. What do you think justice would look like? Where do we agree? Where are those places where we could whittle away at the problem by putting in place those "practices" that we both agree repr...

Extremely good comment Mas and I agree We have a really good social justice program at the church I'm thinking about attending (our priest who was at my old church which I was a member until it's demise from subsidence problems, is now there). It took me a long time to heal from losing my "home" and that was my bad. During that time I needed time for spiritual reflection and it was all good for me, but I'm ready to roll up my sleeves again and do what I'm supposed to do
