Shouldn't we be more wary of grossly manipulating a complete ecosystem for our short term convenience?

Smilovici certainly has a point here.
Moreover, those royalty will get very hungry without workers feeding them, which most likely will lead to their demise. Hey, didn't we already do that in human society?...

There is that great problem of finding a detail, that we try and take advantage of it, before we understand how it fits into the whole. I suppose it's easy to point out obvious differences between some of the methods we plan to use today, with those of the past. Then when something goes wrong the similarities can be obvious. It has occurred to me that termites, are part of a food chain too, and while we know they eat wood, and are great in nature the way they help break down fallen trees, they are also a food source. Too often we learn how fragile the environment can be the hard way.
