I don't think I've ever seen all of Singing in the Rain. I really like Guys and Dolls, though. I still sing those songs with my daughter.

Singing In The Rain was really great but I don't know if I would name it the best. West Side Story, Cabaret and Funny Girl are among my favorites. As for the performers, Liza Minelli and Barbra Streisand are unforgettable.

Yeah. Like Tevye's famous song:

If I were a rich man,
Ya ha deedle deedle, bubba bubba deedle deedle dum.
All day long I'd biddy biddy bum.
If I were a wealthy man.
I wouldn't have to work hard.
Ya ha deedle deedle, bubba bubba deedle deedle dum.
If I were a biddy biddy rich,
Yidle-diddle-didle-didle man.
Fiddler on the Roof wasn't even in the "left out" list. Strange.

I like Singin' in the Rain too along with Cabaret and The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, but I think West Side Story is pompous and suffers from some pretty bad acting. The creators sacrificed acting and dialogue at the altar of fancy dance moves.

I agree Josh. But the songs were so beautiful that the poor script or acting did not disturb me much.

I Feel Pretty is a great song, I think. "It's alarming how charming I feel.."

Gene Kelly is my all time favorite dancer and Singing in the Rain is my all time favorite movie. When I lived in California, one weekend I took a trip to Reno and the hotel I stayed in had pictures of Gene on the walls. I was in heaven... got to sleep with Gene! LOL

West Side Story, in my opinion was a good movie in its time. I tried watching it not long ago, on television and I couldn't stand it. What I thought was a good movie when I saw it "back then," just did not have the same impact for me now.

I saw Fiddler on the Roof and use to play many of the songs on the organ. *I was an organist in my younger years.* It was a movie that I could watch over and over again but only sa...
