1)No one here said it does. It is what their stated intentions resemble that is reminiscent of Communism as they destroyed churches and punished believers.
2)Sure, they're entitled to their opinions.The point of this very clip was to show that their intentions fall well short of allowing the religious to be entitled to THEIR OWN opinions.
They talk of "eradicating " the world of the "nightmare of religion" as if it was up to them to enforce persecution of anyone for their thoughts, beliefs, and associations. They call defeatist one who is barely tolerant eno...

Ha! Describing as delightful an agenda to undermine parents' guidance and teachings by telling their children they are all lies; and having fascistic agendas to eliminate whole subjects of speech, belief, congregation, and thought makes one a dangerous person.
re: McCarathy era. I wasn't there, or aware yet during that time.
It sounds like it was a rather paranoid, buckshot approach.
And bad intelligence. Sounds familiar.
If anything, the agenda from my clip sounds like the McCarthy-ites. They want to be the ones to escalate the fight against religion, stepping it up to a level of aggressive intol[b]...

Hi davboz.

I'm sorry if I insulted you. It's just that your first remark was reminiscent of the McCarthy era.

Dennett's books are generally concerned with artificial intelligence and the problems of free will and consciousness. His book Darwin's Dangerous Idea is about application of the idea of evolution to fields of inquiry other than biology. His recent book, Breaking The Spell: Religion As Natural Phenomenon is an attempt to describe the development of religion in evolutionary terms. Dennett is, of course, a man without a theology.
