Police in northern Australia kept a 2.4m (7ft 9in) saltwater crocodile in a cell overnight after it menaced local fishermen.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was the best way to keep the crocodile safe. I don't know if the crocodile would have agreed. They just needed to be careful not to let the crocodile get hungry. I'm sure the crocodile wouldn't have held a grudge, if they gave it a few chickens.
