Silkweaver says:
Whatever proposal is eventually selected, the dark energy satellite will return a tidal wave of data about the universe and its weird denizens, both visible and invisible. This data is likely to transform astronomy in unpredictable ways, but there is no guarantee that it will nail the mystery of dark energy.

This is a very interesting read. Wherever our current theories fail to explain what we see, wherever there is a deep crack in our ability to explain the universe, there lies the truly exciting frontier, a potential and a challenge of discovering something entirely new. A mystery of such proportions is indeed what mystery should be for us, an opportunity to breakthrough our own conceptual prison.
