it's funny. a bunch of people have been contacting us lately about investing in clipmarks. for the most part, they all think we should be advertising...i've told them they're crazy...with people like you all out there spreading the word who needs advertising!! we just need to keep doing our best to make clipmarks worthy of your high regards.

I concur... I've been putting the clipmarks name everywhere I go and I am sure I am not alone in this.

Perhaps a "How to spread the word" document is called for? Maybe some nice lil icons and images peeps can use in sigs, on their sites, etc.

Investing? How come I get the feeling that will only ruin the community feeling we're getting into here.

BTW, the above is ala Firefox (spread the word)

Wolf, adamc has started working on a spread clipmarks site that will hopefully do just what you suggested.

Regarding this statement...

Investing? How come I get the feeling that will only ruin the community feeling we're getting into here.
well, the "how come" part is because we gotta keep the lights on here and at home (oh yeah, the servers too ).

however, regarding the rest of that statement, that's why we haven't said yes to anyone yet. we're not looking for an investor who will try to take control or in any way change things. we're just looking to raise some money so we can keep doing what we're doing for a long time and maybe even hire a few more developers so we can get more accomplished.

I have added my comment to RiverTyde as well.

Totally understood Eric! What I meant was someone like Yahoo or something trying to leverage you guys out somehow.

Okay, I have been spreading the word as well, the intentblog community (I love Deepak Chopra's work) is another place I frequent, I made sure they know about this site as well.

So now I'm waiting for you guys to become millionairs, may be then you'd share just a few thousands with me for my hard work.. ..... just kidding.

certainly appreciate all your efforts in spreading the word. it really is how we judge our performance. if we can't build something worthy of inspiring people to spread it then as far as i'm concerned, it doesn't desever to be spread.

This site is amazing and has definitely established itself at the top of the pack for communities to watch. As social tagging and communty search become more popular, more and more people will learn how to take advantage of using such a strong resource. I feel Clipmarks will proudly stand out.

Yeah, this is one of the best things on the web right now. I love it. Left a comment yesterday on RiverTyde. Thanks!

BBW, I was tempted to add "and watch Bid Bad Wolves kick up photoshop-inspired flirt storms", but me not a name-namer, you know?

Plus, the deep-type reviews were already covered and my typing speed of 1 finger-1 word per minute made the choice of concise format easy.

Geekette, your comment made me laugh out loud as well Thanks for the blog post, it's awesome. I was checking out your blog yesterday and really got into it.

Geekette, LOL I didn't think too much about the reputation I've developed here and I guess I need to work on that.

1 finger typing and you have a blog?
5-4-2006 11:27 AM
kristenjo
I feel I must comment even though I have no intention of going to the RiverTyde site for lack of time. Right now I'm typing a paper, commenting on clipmarks, drinking my breakfast, reading for my next class, and watching TV. There's no room for extra websites.

Is it too simplistic to suggest a paypal style donation request somewhere on the site? I mean, I've donated to a couple of free sites that way because I wanted to see them stick around. Don't know how affective it actually is for them, though. Just thought I'd share.
5-4-2006 11:29 AM

Thanks Adam, I do try! Glad you dig the blog; one day soon I'll finish implementing all its features/pages. Oh, and finish the many other drafts/unpublished posts.

BBW: talk about over-ambition eh? Yep, you would think a 1 finger typer would know better, but I like to write/comment/provide weird analysis/snark
5-4-2006 11:38 AM

OK I commented. I couldn't not. I was sitting here not commenting, and I realized the closed captioning was working on this random commercial on my TV and it's never worked before, and while I was being confused, I dropped a cookie on the floor. Well, I couldn't continue working on my research paper then, so really I had no choice but to comment.

Did you eat the cookie?

*sigh* As if I had any choice. You perplex me and at the same time mesmerize me. You're like a puzzle that can't be solved yet I can't stop trying to figure the secret out. No wait... you're more like a program bug that I know can't be fixed yet I refuse to delete you. Yea, that's the ticket!

Wolf. Nice analogy! *deducts two points from Wolf's coolness score, mumbling* I'll show him bug...

Clipmarks team...squad leaders...Admiral EricG...Commander-in-Chief AdamC...I just want to congratulate everyone that did their part to come together and conquer the RiverTyde blog when it counted the most. Overwhelming force...before they knew what him 'em...shock-and-awe style...that's how we do things around here! The Clipmarks Flag waves proudly above the River. Mission accomplished!

Hmmm, let's take a look at the lyrics...
Come Here baby
You know you drive me up a wall the way you make good on all the nasty tricks you pull
Seems like we're makin' up more than we're makin' love
And it always seems you got somn' on your mind other than me
Girl, you got to change your crazy ways
You hear me
First verse seems innocent enough...

Hey Adam, quit wasting time talking with the peasants and get to work on making clipmarks better!

Is anyone else having problems accessing the "Mine", "Public", and "Board" tabs? I can only look at the "POPular" tab; when I click on the other three tabs the middle pane is blank and at the bottom it says "1-2 of 2 latest results".

Very sorry about the problems. It seems that your (jklugman) last clip "US Anti-Terrorism Policies Hurt Muslim Charities" had a character in it that was invalid and was causing problems within the xml parser. I removed the character and all is fine. I don't think it was intentional, but somehow in your description of the clipmark, you put an invalid character prior to the "2.". I am working on a solution now that will deal with situations like this.
5-4-2006 5:59 PM
jklugman
Thank-you very much Derek, I appreciate you doing this. I did see that character, it was a box-shaped thing that would refuse to be deleted (I had copied my remarks from a PDF file that the clip referred to). Sorry for the trouble,

5-4-2006 9:44 PM

Huh? Do I spy weakness?
5-4-2006 9:48 PM

Not weakness, A LOSS OF THE WILL TO LIVE. I didn't sleep last night, probably won't get more than 4 hours tonight... Show me some love, guys, I gotta make it through to the 13th and you're not likely to get a response from me at all if you cut me down. I mean, I won't be angry, I'll just ignore you.
5-4-2006 9:58 PM
BigBadWolf
Ok Kristen, I'll be nice... FOR NOW. However if you drag this pity routine out for too long, I'll take is as admission of your defeat.

Seriously sweetstuff, school and your life is more important than this. It won't be as much fun for me (and I am sure others) but whatever I can do to help you out, just let me know. If you need to dig up some info I am good at that.

And remember, no matter what the others say to you... I love you more.
5-4-2006 10:01 PM

*ahem* By pity routine I'm sure you meant survival mode.

He's everyone's favorite fireman 'round here for sure (puttin' out those fires one-by-one).
5-5-2006 1:35 AM

Our clipmarks society is forming quite quicly...we have a government, citizens, and a civil service branch or two. Besides our fireman, I know I've carried out some policing duties, writin' a couple of etickets.

Actually it's sort of like a military dictatorship, but I'm ok with that, Adam's a rather benevolent dictator (and I could beat him up).

Calm down, I wouldn't beat you up. I have a glimmer of benevolence myself.
5-5-2006 11:47 PM

Speaking of benevolence, I was thinkin' today about all the threads that nobody looks at anymore. I kept picturing them sittin' at home on the couch in their robes, hair a mess, remote in hand, mouth gaping. It's a sad picture really.

Wow that was a really ummm, deep thought there Kristen.

Time to up the meds?
5-6-2006 12:49 AM

Yeah, probably. Or maybe I should just get a full night's sleep. I've only slept four hours in the past forty-eight. That can't be good, huh.
