Yes, I agree with you. Job titles have a use. But some go overboard and then it becomes - well as you said - rubbish.
In our office we kept the titles few and simple but then the guys wanted differentiation.

Obviously not all subscribe to the dictum 'A rose is a rose by whatever name called'
