Over the centuries and even within years there have been swings in social behavior and civil expectation, between Conservative, and Liberal thinking. Sometimes the swing is due to a dramatic event and can be instigated by the Elite or the people. It is as though Humanity through history has been traveling the range of social possibility sometimes to the widest possible extremes, to "test our limits " Sometimes History will teach us something so repeatedly that we have no choice but to learn it. History has a remarkable ability to say the same thing from many different angles. Nothing is in stone. The Human race is still a work in progress.. We may soon have as much common sense as we once believed we had.
