nice to see that dissenting rationalism is coming out of the closet. Perhaps due to the last few years demonstration of the destructive power of irrational minds. Guess we just have to keep a close eye on smug clouds developing.

I think that there is a popular misconception about the defence of human rights as a glamorously international pursuit; a misconception exploited by conservative nationalists and middle-class liberals alike. As Forghani makes clear in her letter, the struggle for an end to human rights abuses is far from glamorous and in her case is not for a 'minority' or 'ethnic group' - that those on the far right like to tell us are being privileged over a now mythic 'indigenous peoples', the white working-class - but for the familiar and local people in Iran - her mother, brother, neighbour, as well as the poor village girl in a distant province. Her fight is against abuses that come in many guises: cla...

the one thing that struck and wounded me the most was the level of abuse the West Bank Palestinians were made to suffer on an hourly, daily basis.
They are truly teated with dogged disdain. But I wonder how much freedom you'd give to a group that openly tries to kill you and your children, i.e., via suicide bombs?

Fact is, both sides are evil towards each other. And because it's a basic religious problem, no political solution is going to work. One side will have to die, or give up their faith.

This isn't which came first, the chicken or the egg. What the Palestinians do they do in retaliation to the atrocities Israel commits: collective punishment, deprivation of busic human and civil rights since the day they invaded Palestine, diversion of 75% of the water to the Israeli land, Illegal settlements...and the list goes on and on. If main stream media would report any of the truth they will have AIPAC AND ADL along with many other organizations after them.

I agree.

And I'm sure you're right about the rest of it, too.

That having been said...no political solution is going to work. One side will have to die, or give up their faith.

I can't say I completely agree with that. My problem is with those that use any religion (or any overreaching ideology/philosophy) as a tool to destroy their fellow man.

this guy is obviously misinformed! He speaks of nothing but his own opinion. Nothing he said is actually based on fact whatsoever. it's pretty pathetic that some dude can spew forth his opinions and wan to have them treated as the holy word of man.

Matthew 6:

5 ΒΆ And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Hmm... I checked... and to me it seems he has his facts pretty much in order. As for his opinions? They are his to have and his to express if he wants to. That's a fact too.

Matthew 6
When arguing these points, one must remember that Christians pick and choose the laws they will follow. Further, Christians are sinners and therefore not perfect, so they can't be expected to follow all the laws that god has set forth. There is also the argument that unbelievers know the Bible scripture better than believers and use it against them in arguments, not because they are reading the scripture correctly, but because they are agents of Satan and Satan will use every tactic he can to sway the believers into disbelief.

Stop blaming the Devil for everything and look at the man across you and face him. Appeals to higher power will not win you any points in this debate.

Me thinks the Devil gets a bigger whipping than Christ ever did.

If you take either one as real, of course.

Mr Rictor
"There is also the argument that unbelievers know the Bible scripture better than believers and use it against them in arguments, not because they are reading the scripture correctly, but because they are agents of Satan and Satan will use every tactic he can to sway the believers into disbelief."

Anyone who possesses logic and reasoning, actually considering what they are reading without simply beleiving everything must be a follower of satan. Any convincing argument against the validity of religion, must therefore be the devil speak. This is fundamental ignorance.
