When profits are put ahead of concerns about the health of our citizenry, it would seem pretty clear where compassion is directed.  Compassion for profit.   Even if our national security had been sloughed off on the private sector (now, don’t start with that silly Blackwater thing…..!), it would be no less egregious than eschewing the responsibility for “promoting the common welfare (see the preamble to the Constitution), than abrogating the responsibility to provide the best possible care for its own people.
