pokkets says: If there is 1/1Billion chance of there being the right properties in a 'Big Bang' to create life, then you just need 1 Billion 'Big Bangs' . One of the threads on theory regarding the presence of life in the Universe. Having such inadequate information to come to any conclusions there are a number of projections, but it seems the best education we are getting, is in the the development of more and more sophisticated instruments and measuring techniques. We may keep opening doors only to find more doors. Or someone may find a key, while they were looking for something else. What a mouth-wateringly interesting article pokkets! Great clip! How many laws of physics have to be just right for life to be possible?I think I read somewhere like 39 different constants have to be exact down to the 18th decimal...or something like that. Don't hang me up on those numbers but it was something like that. The universe has to be incredibly and unbelievably fine-tuned anyway to exist at all. My head hurts . . . Take a galaxy and lie down for a millennium. Awesome article Pokkets, thanks for sharing! Seems to me that in all these theories something is forgotten. In our observations we only recognize carbon based life forms, right? We refer to these when speaking of the universe being consistent with life. For all we know, there may be other life forms, other intelligent life forms even, which aren't recognizable to us at this point; and - to the point at hand - aren't such a 'perfect fit' to the laws and conditions of the universe. Or, what we interpret as such a close fit. So to me, this may suggest other options which do not necessitate to collapse the question of this universe being fine-tuned to life. Just a thought....
