What would the crime be for shooting one of these? It couldn't be murder. Vandalism?

I've seen unmanned turret systems that are designed to, locate, track and target human forms. The demo I saw showed the system consistently finding and targeting the head of a man hiding in shrubbery. Doesn't seem too long before they'll have heat sensing rovers that get sent into villages to "clean" it out.

I've already seen video of US troops using stealthy surveillance and targeting systems to remotely kill civilians.

Doesn't appear to me that they would even need much more of an advantage. They have already slaughtered 20-30 times more people than have lost military lives.

You ain't seen nothng yet. The things I have seen will make your hair stand on end they are so technically scary. And those are just the things I was allowed to see with my clearance.
