It sure sounds that way. It's amazing how fast technology moves these days. It was less than a year ago that I was looking at a rear projection DLP HDTV because they were the only way to get a good HDTV for not a lot of money. Now LCD's are so cheap it's almost pointless to buy a DLP.

Rear projection sets seem to have a much more pronounced viewing-angle problem from what I've seen as well. My friend has one, and if you're standing in the room, it's dim, but if you sit on the couch, it's almost blindingly bright. Not great for playing the wii. Even worse, it seems to get darker near the edges and corners for the same reason.
