Tasers are very seldomly lethal; we've been given a false sense of the lethality because for every 1 fatality that the media reports about, there are 1000 cases where there is no permanent harm done. Tasers only have a minute fraction of the lethality of guns; and that makes them a much safer alternative. It's how they're being used that's the problem; not the tasers themselves. If they used them as intended by the makers — as a substitute for firearms only — then people would see what a boon they are. It's lazy law enforcement agencies allowing their use in cases where just batons or muscles are warranted that makes them seem so bad. It's when law enforcement substitutes a taser for other ... lol BOO HOOOO STUPID LOL POPPED!!! LOL Having worked in an ER, I have seen the effects of tasers, mace, and bullets. The all can be lethal. I think a police officer should follow the same procedures for using tasers and mace as they do for firing their guns. This might make them think. Probably not, but at least while they are busy with the mounds of required paperwork, they can't be on the streets hurting people. Some cop is just waiting out there for one of your friends or family, clip. I'm sure you'll be laughing your ass off. You know what clip, your an A%#(*&# Nothing good comes from giving police officers portable torture devices. Their intended use is not as a torture device. With the human imagination, nearly anything can become a torture device, so it's disingenuous to call Tasers a torture device. They are a stopping device, and used properly, they do not torture. Don't blame the tool; blame the idiots that are misusing it. I like to blame the tool. Especially when the tool is an idiot. Spoken like a true tool.
