2007 - Oortcloud is immediatly suspended from school and forced to see a psychiatrist. FBI searches his house for bomb making materials, firearms, and other weapons. Community applauds the school system for stopping an obvious future murderer/terrorist.

1974 - The farmer catches Oortcloud (the smallest and slowest) and slaps him across the back of the head and kicks him in the butt, sending him home. Farmer yells at him to keep his ass off the property and calls the parents. Oortcloud gets a memorable spanking and never damages other people's property again.

2007 - Farmer catches Oortcloud, but then faces charges of assault for handling the boy. Farmer sues boys parents for trespass, but they counter sue for assault and emotional distress on boy. Oortcloud's parents actually spank him for trespassing and vandalism, but then when he tells his friends his punishment they tell their parents and Oortclouds parents are turned into Childwelfare services.

Knowing that near-graduating teenagers will sneak out and drink alchohol on New Year's eve, parent offers to host party at her house under the condition that everyone turns their keys in and no one drives themselves home.

1984 - The teenagers drink alchohol under the supervision of an adult. Games are played, music is played, and the kids all ring in the new year.

2007 - Parents refuse to allow party for fear of law. The kids sneak out and drink in some secluded area. 2 of the kids get a DUI while another has an accident and kills a family of 6, himself, and 2

Once in an Australian Pub, there was the idea that if two people got into an argument that was likely to result in a fight, there was the invitation to 'Take it outside', to avoid damage to the hotel, and avoid disturbing the night of those who were clearly not involved in the argument. The 'Blue' went on and the winner was declared generally ending the argument. This could also develop into a brawl, which involved various supporters, but it wasn't generally something that carried over until the next day. What used to be sorted out in 10 minutes, has been hijacked by legislation that can only be seen as a revenue raiser. Imagine walking into a Hotel, and finding someone drunk-Easy pickings. I don't expect it's too different most other places. Too many Laws today are revenue raisers that are downright wrong, and any one with sense is a fool to take them seriously. The Law serves only it's own interests.
There is the saying that anyone who defends themselves in court has a fool for a client. Better that being represented by a corrupt fool with a Law degree.
When they say outright that law has precedence over conscience, they deserve no respect.
