Brilliant. We cannot digest properly without some bacteria that help metabolize food, but if they are wiped out how do we get them back? It doesn't take many. The stomach is the perfect place for bacteria to grow once given a chance. Now this theory has come up there suddenly seems to be an great instance of finding something that seemed to be a relic is functional on the verge of being essential for health. I wonder if they've compared people with others who have had them removed, but they write that population means the bacteria can be caught from someone else.
One funny statement in the article, they say maybe they'll find a use for tonsils one day. I thought they had discovered they were...
