Again we are presented with the dilemma of respecting other peoples rights to hold whatever beliefs they want and coercing people who don't hold those beliefs to adhere to them anyway.

There is no dilemma whatsoever. Pizza all around or those who want some, and a side of wings, too, please.

I love the attitude of the blogger. I would do the same thing.

Expect some to blame Islam when in fact all religions try to do this. Hell I eat meat on Good Friday and I was born a Catholic. So give me a slice, will ya.

Agreed (to all). What I was expressing was not my personal feelings but being a bit of the "devils advocate".

I was struck by a phrase you mentioned that you were "born a Catholic". Now I realize that this is a construct that is used all the time to denote that one is born into a family that holds a certain viewpoint. But we don't hear the corresponding phrase, "I was born a Republican" or "I was born an existentialist". OK, enough of my pedagogy.

Freedom of religion does not mean freedom to impose your religion.

So were all members of the hamlet sent emails asking them to respect Christian holidays? Jewish holidays? The holidays of any other religion?
