papananook says: read on at link a seed bank sound like a good idea; at least they are doing something with the clear intention of help humanity. Re: genetically modified foods -- I was a bit shocked when I read at the beginning of this month that Bush was increasing food aid...then I read the "hooks," #1 for Congress to pass the food aid they had to approve continued funding of the Iraq war, since Bush stuck the food aid amendment onto the war bill. Hook #2 was that if a country wanted food aid they also had to agree to take in genetically modified foods. Hook # 3, etc. (NAFTA, etc.) There oughta be a law....oh, yeah--impeachment! Aside from that...I really am careful what I eat. I made a mistake the other day and bought some Raisin bran with the dreaded high fructose corn syrup--deadly shit for a diabetic. Back to da store it goes. What I don't understand is if they are required or not to label genetically altered foods. Should be a large symbol or something on the package. |
