Learning to think logically and critically takes an effort. Emotion, on the other hand is hard wired. It's easy. And it helped to keep the species alive when it had no time to analyze.

A noise in the brush triggers the rabbit to flee. Those who stopped to analyze, bred less, because they were caught by the fox and made dinner.

So too for humans. It is only in the last several thousand years or so that we've had fewer and fewer natural enemies, except ourselves. We were developing the time to THINK.

But thought... logical, analytical thought... is still roughly new to us as a form of "hard wired" process. It's not that we didn't posses it. We rarely had TIME for it!

We were too busy trying to survive! In the Dark Ages, for instance, most people were poor. Only the Clergy and Kings had high living standards.

They had time for art, music, and reading and writing (luxuries back then), and the rest groveled at their mercy.

Very little education meant a lot of superstition. Very little science meant very little progress in the development of the world and her people.

All that is changing. We now have time to think, to analyze, to verify what is true and what is superstition.
