I fully agree with what is said in the article. One consequence, it seems to me, is that while the question of evolutionary advantage is an interesting one, it is not the only one that may be asked. Deontological moral arguments, spiritual dimensions, aesthetic judgments, for instance, have developed their own rationale which is not instrumental ('All art is utterly useless', Wilde), though culture, generally - within which these examples occur - is itself an evolutionary development of intelligence, a super-fine shared environmental adaptability within the shimmering of shared consciousness, which environment includes its own discursive universes. If one would strive for wisdom one must take great care not to confuse being rational with rationalization.
