When I think of all the people the USA has tortured in Afghanistan, Iraq and at Gitmo in Cuba, I cannot help but feel jealous that my country (the USA) doesn't subject itself to the jurisdiction of international human rights and criminal courts. I feel jealous because I am well aware of the kinds of nations in history that set themselves up as above the rule of law and international norms. In time the names of those nations are often spoken in utter contempt.
