Culture in itself is an evolutionary emergence. In adaptive contexts intelligent culture - that which enables memory storage and transmission, intergenerational continuity of skills and so forth - is a sort of 'buffer zone' added to genetic evolution. It is a second order of evolution itself subject to complex 'mutation' and 'struggle'. In practical terms this means culture is always in battle within itself for new culture, new ideas, new forms of consciousness.
