ljsdesign says: Obama is only the third U.S. President to win the Nobel Peace Prize while still in office. Theodore Roosevelt won it in 1906 and Woodrow Wilson in 1919. Former President Jimmy Carter also won the prize in 2002, adds Knoller, but that was more than two decades after he left office I think this selection is totally whacked. While Obama has changed the tone of US policy, but it is way too early to for this award. Is removing hurtful Bush policies really the same as the work Mandela or Medicines Sans Frontiers? Prior winners have been luminated for an extensive body of work which this president has not yet built. I hope Obama will be someday be worthy of this award. |
