blueridge says:
It's not about "terrorism" but an oil pipeline from the Caspian region to Pakistan, thru Afghanistan.

The proof is that the invasion was planned before Sept. 11th! This fact should be sufficient to establish Motive, should it not? Now you know why the Taliban and bin Laden got fingered for 9/11, instead of Saudi hijackers, etc.

"It's [i.e. the oil pipeline] not going to be built until there is a single Afghan government. That's the simple answer."
Bush began war in the region in Oct. 2001. May 2002 the BBC reported the immediate result

The leaders of Afghanistan, Pakistan and Turkmenistan have agreed to construct a $2bn pipeline to bring gas from Central Asia to the sub-continent [i.e. Pakistan].
Now look at this map of Military and Oil.

I've been meaning to look this up,again. Remember , in 2001, how the fringe lefties were hollering how it was the oil from the Caucasus area, the Caspian Sea, and the multi-mega-$$ pipeline that was really why Bush invaded Afghanistan?
Knowing that there is economic sense (and campaign money) in securing those passageways for oil delivery, ...defining alQaeda as opposed to Taliban, ... whether they should be chased into Pakistan, and whether HE is now responsible for chasing them right into the locality of the nukes in Pakistan because he was framing the war for public consumption in terms of pursuing them.
He should have saved his mandatory tough-guy talk for REAL life situations. Doh! Loo...

Not just "lefties" were saying this. A lefty would also say that 2 + 2 = 4, and could not be condemned for it.

Tired of the phony left-right paradigm argument which does nothing but hide the truth.
