Why does SEX bother the same people who seems so at ease with KILLING people? What is going on here??? Sex between two consenting adults who care deeply for each other is a beautiful, wonderful, and awesome thing. And sexual orientation is fixed and CANNOT be changed through prayer or counseling, and it's NOT a matter of choice. Why do some people want to interpret the question of immorality with reference to themselves as far as sexual orientation is concerned?

That is an interesting question. I recall a study of television content that was done that mentioned the Family Channel. During the study Jerry Falwell's (or was it Pat Robertson's) organization bought a controlling share in the network - the researchers found that the number of references (audible or visual such as exposed shoulders) to sex decreased BUT the amount of portrayed violence increased.

Sex is a taboo - how comfortable are you talking about it? I know I find it difficult to talk about and I know better. Wouldn't it be nice to make violence a taboo...

How comfortable am I talking about sex? hahahhaha, you must be kidding! I am about as open as possible. Let me share a story with you. I know a really nice lady who happens to be a lesbian and she got married and had five children. Five kids!!! The whole time she knew she was gay and tried EVERYTHING to make it go away. She was in a church group and she is a really honest person and went to the clergy and told them and they prayed for her. Then she went back and said "Oh, sorry, it's not working." So more praying. INTENSE praying. Finally, they said she was a threat to the church and kicked her out before she would spread "sin" to the other members. Can you IMAGINE? So she sat i...

I used to go to church with my mom on occasion just to make her happy. I remember the last time I went, I got up and walked out in the middle of the service. They were saying a special prayer that the bill making gay and lesbian marriage legal would not pass. It passed. Someone very close to me, and whom I love very much is gay. He's now engaged to a wonderful young man. They're happy and so am I.

Imagine the things that need our prayer. World peace, ending hunger and poverty, for those who are hurting, for all the suffering in the world; I could go on and on, but why would one pray to keep two human beings apart who love each other and want to make a special commitment to celebrate that love?
Love is love, and that is what counts. So it seems pretty clear to me that if religious conservatives were really concerned about saving the institution of marriage--and not just fueling prejudice against gays--they would forget about same-sex marriage and focus thier efforts on divorce.
