My mother was fortunate in that she was spared more years of misery by a heart attack that allowed her to go quickly and with relatively little pain, compared to the pain she was suffering whilst alive.

My father knows, and has spoken to me many times about how he would prefer a quick, painless exit, instead of a long drawn out "prison sentence" in a nursing home. I hope his dreams become reality (much to my own loss of his wonderful presence in my life).
