I just love how they used the term comfort woman instead of a sex slave. This still happens to some degree today.. may sailors/soldiers from around the world (including Briton, Canada & the US) visit foreign ports and take advantage of the services offered by local brothels, etc, many of these places "employ" women and young girls forced to work there. The BBC did a pretty good documentary on these sex slaves a year or so ago (you can find it on TV Torrents likely...). It's pretty fucking depressing to know that happens. PS: Did you know that prostitution itself is not illegal in many jurisdictions (Canada, some jurisdictions in Nevada (US), the UK, Germany, Switzerland, etc, etc... even Turkey!)... Most laws in these places are to prevent pimping (it is most ... I have heard that the Japanese military maintained those "brothels" during the occupation for the US soldiers. I am not vouching for the truthfulness of this claim, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was true. There is a fairly substantial literature on this already - see the rape of Nanking as a case in point. Human Rights groups (HR Watch, Amnesty, ICRC, etc) maintain online updates of similar abuses to date and wherever there is a war, you will find women and children forced into sexual slavery - look at Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as large parts of Africa. regards cool jeezy |
