IVF and ICSI increased Glut1 and Glut3 expression in the placenta compared with natural mating. That, the researchers conclude, suggests manipulations used in assisted reproductive techniques could make offspring who are conceived in this non-natural way more susceptible to metabolic consequences through alterations in placental nutrient transfer from mother to the fetus.

Further evaluation of assisted reproductive techniques and their long term effects are required.
Wasn't it obvious from very beginning? Remember first clone - sheep Dolly? She died prematurely with host of health problems.

I had totally forgotten about Dolly! And yes, I do think there have been several problems with cloned animals, but IVF-kids aren't clones (yet)... but perhaps it's the unnatural procedure as a whole that bungs up something. It wouldn't surprise me in the least. Humans have a poor track record, when it comes to meddling to with nature.

We cannot win war against Nature and she punish us for our assaults. Isn't it easier (and better) to live in harmony with her, not breaking her rules?
