Interestingly, sometimes it's the biggest, toughest guys who are most secure with themselves and, as a result, at ease with other people being different.

In the special features for the movie Be Cool, Dwayne Johnson (formerly known as The Rock) talks about dealing with people's reactions to discovering he was playing a gay character: "Yeah, my character's gay. You got a problem with that?" *long pause, sound of crickets* "Didn't think so."

I'd guess 99.9% of the suffering inflicted on others is the result of fear and insecurity. U only need to look at recent U.S. history and the current administration to see clear evidence of this.
