ouyangwulong says: This is a worthy article in general - one of the better ones you'll see fro Krugman (although it is still annoyingly conversational, at least he isn't Maureen Dowd!) He makes a good point: that fear is what our leaders embrace, not courage. I'm sick and tired of Americans who are scared. I for one am not scared of terrorists, and anyone who lives their life in fear is an idiot. (Probably a manipulated idiot.) But the real gem is when Krugman calls it like it is on Iran. Podhorertz and others like him have departed so far from reality that they are basically making things ups as they go along. I expect next that Commentary will be linking Iran to Voldemort, Darth Vader, and the Dark Lord Sauron. They are so blatantly disconnected from reality, and yet, people listen to them! That's the part I don't understand. Even a student in a High School Social Studies class should be able to tell you the difference between Iran and Al Qaeda. The difference? You mean the gulf of suspicion and hatred that U.S. leaders of old would have manipulated to U.S. ends. The present U.S. "leadership" is whacked beyond measure. I wonder how long it will take for the U.S. to recover its prior stature, 50 years, 100? We've had an incompetent, short sighted, fearful, insane foreign policy. This is not far from what anarchy would be like. I think Kucinich is right. It is high time we question Bush's sanity. A period of rehab trying to get my brain functioning was used checking out every horse system available. There were some sensible points I now use but nothing that improved my betting results. "The Four Legged Lottery" is best treated as such. Bet what you can afford to lose and pretend you are at the gambling joint for fun and a few beers. I love the kindred company, especially the real old gamblers. They don't own flash houses, but they enjoy the challenge of picking a winner. OOPS wrong clip. What a waste of a diatribe. See next clip if you are wondering what I am on about. |
