Anything goes wrong with those statistics!
While I (and all in the country) learned more, specially in natural sciences and higher math, than our parents, our children in the 90ies learned much lesser and today some nature sciences like chemie are no more teached.
They know lesser words to explain. They cannot calculate, and literature and history is only teached in higher schools with humanistic string, while we as our parents learned both from the 5th class in all schools. What is doubled every 2 years besides the RAM and speed of processors? What an important cognition we had in the last 50 years? The only one I know yet is, that there are no honestly politicians in the world, and statis...

The only one I know yet is, that there are no honestly politicians in the world, and statistics are not believable! I'm not sure, but believe, that my parents not knew this. And don't tell me, that elite students know that all! Maybe in India or China! Not in the Western world!
If I think to the 14th-15th century, if the printing was involved and people see, that the earth is a ball and all - ALL - what them was told by the priests and monks was false ....
This was a change in thinking and an increase of sight on the creation and of knowledge !
The most of our todays new inventions were known since many years. Some were at first not practicable, by the absence of material like semiconductors - but it was known, how it can be made!!
Every night I see at TV some explorers crawling through jungles, deserts and caves by searching for the lost knowledge of the ancients.
