so,do, I One can not measure something that is eternal. A mothers love for her offspring, a soldier falling on a live grenade to save his brother and sisters in arms, goats adopting a baby deer and letting it nurse, visiting a nursing home once or twice a week to help and brighten someones day at a latter stage in life, or giving up your Christmas day to volunteer at a soup opera feeding the hungry, and what about all the hunters across the USA that harvest animals and donate the meat to feed the hungry and never ask for nothing; that barely skims the surface. In the last 15 to 20 years, the only place i have found it difficult to find love is in organized religeon and politics, there is only a threa... You cannot make love. well you have me listening to the Dixie Chicks now.... I made a promise to myself Locked it way deep down inside Told my heart we'd wait it out Swore we'd never compromise Oh I'd rather be alone Like I am tonight Than settle for the kind of love That fades before the morning light Silence staring me in the face And I finally heard its voice Seemed to softly say That in love you have no choice Today I got the answer And there's a world of truth behind it Love is out there waiting somewhere You just have to go and find it I believe in love, I believe in love Love that's real, love that's strong Love that lives on and on @JohannaG, I can too baby, and rather well I love that song Alanocu. Eros and erotic love includes it all and more besides. Someone who does not know love is neurotic, that is, unerotic. Or the sick rose. "Making love" is a case of the corruptedness of the colloquial English language. I can experience love; I can give love; but I cannot make love. Maybe I am able to make you love me (but, knowing me, I am not sure). Certainly, you can have/practise/enjoy/sustain sexual intercourse. Love can be its interpersonal background and impetus. Love can be widened and deepened and, occasionally, awake by sexual activities. But it's never ever you that makes love. By the way: Having sex is a feature, not an activity. Having a sex is fine for having mutual sexual experiences. Having no sex would be a pity. Summary: Don't talk of "making ... hahahahahahahaha, Don't take me so serious JohannaG. Now I will be serious. Who among us has not felt the passion of love? Is love just sex? Is it brain chemicals run wild? It just Is. One makes one's own experiences. One feels what one feels during the expression of lovemaking. Can one make love? YES. It's created with intention. It's becoming intimate. For me, it's spiritual as well as physical. It's safety and trust and sharing your intermost feelings. Can one make love? Of course you can, and I have. Good stuff guys - reading your comments put me in mind of my favourite Californication episode where Hank and Becca share the following exchange (I may be paraphrasing): Becca: “My heart hurts, - I just want to be where it stops hurting.” Hank: "Hopefully it'll never stop" ["If you see her say hello" by Mr Dylan then drifts in over the closing credits] I'd never dare to take you serious, debbydear. You have kept on saying questionable things. One makes one's own experiences.Hark to these words: One makes one's own experiences. That's what the daydreamer is the whole day occupied with (because he or she thinks to need a counter project contra to the reality which they dread to experience). Can one make love? YES. It's created with intention. That's true, I might admit, to wit in the case of autoeroticism. Making love is an autoerotic business, and an illusionary one. (That booms in the hokum to love love.) Do you feel there's something in the air and you don't know what it is? Then... debby & Alan....so very nice clips! Red Skelton once said "teenagers snuggle up in the dark and neck and think that is love.Love is when you are 70 and sbuggle up in the dark and neck" Sometimes *corrupt colloquial English' is all you need to make a point. (But can a rpoint really be made or only understood? Hmm..who cares. Make love, not war. You've just made my day, mate! Sometimes *corrupt colloquial English' is all you need to make a point.Of course. If one's point is corrupt or poor, corrupt or poor colloquial speech is proper. And the other way round: Corrupt and poor speech indicates a corrupt and poor mental world. Can corrupt and poor speech approach and express any "Eternal Truth"? Oh that *fucking* colloquial English (esp. in its American deformation)! It is unsurpassable regarding the affairs of technology and commerce, but it tends to technologize and commercialize conceptually all aspects of life. This is linguistic impoverishment in itself and causes spiritual impoverishment. "Make love, not war" - ha! This bathetic phrase i... Ha! Du ka sgu' beholde dine ordbøger. Nogle gange ka' det sgu' bare ik' betale sig at være sådan en ordkløvende idiot at høre på. som du er lige nu. Det var såmænd bar' det jeg vil' sige. Punktum. *LOL*. (BTW. *LOL* means *Lots Of Love* in corrupt, colloquial smiley code. Great Clip subject! Someone should do a clip on the nature of hate. It would be interesting to read what the world considers hate. Love is friendship after all secrets are told. Love is a many splendid thing, skwirl. Skwirl, so very true, Debbyski by the time JG got done with her lecture, ones brain would be foggy and any chance at sex or love would fly right out the window See, caba, how flighty, fugitive, transient, volatile the idea of making love is? Q.e.d. TNCBT, jeg elsker dig, men knæppe din sprog! LOI (Lots Of Interest) :-x as much as I mention at LoveJots, and as much as we can chatter for hours about what love is, I like to define it as "emotion." El amor es eterno, cuando tu encuentras tu verdadero amor es para toda la vida...pero aveces cuando tu das amor no es devuelto...y es ahi cuando tu te das cuenta que no es un verdadero amor, ya que este tiene que ser correspondido y fiel. El espanol es el lenguaje del amor tu sabes hablar espanol? Johanna G Johanna_G said:Geht mir genauso. Die Sprache (oder, mit Adornos Kritik an Heidegger zu sprechen, der Jargon) der Eigentlichkeit ist halt das Deutsche. Im deutschen Kopf, wabert und west so manch krauser, zuweilen bluttriefender Gedanke, aber er weiß es immerhin auszudrücken. Irgendwie. Eigentlich. Tief, tief, tief... (Na ja - freilich nicht in jedem Einzelfalle.) Übrigens, wenn ich Liebe zu machen wüsste, setzte ich sie zuhauf in die Welt. Letztere hätte es eigentlich nötig. debbyski said:¡Esto es verídico! El amor es lo bello de la vida - si es correspondido. También verídico. Por cierto, puedes hacer la cama, pero no el amor. ¿Bien? si, pero yo puedo hacer las dos, la cama y el amor men knæppe din sprog?? Online translator? Online translator! OMG, you are so cheating TN! Shame on you Not me, silly. You are so cheeky. @ Johanna, I was thinking about this clip today and I think that love is one of the most difficult things to define. In the area of romantic love I'm probably one of the most naive romanticists ever. Was I being silly and nonsensical when I said you can make love? I don't think so, but by that I meant an expression of sorts. Sometimes I like to express myself through music especially when I can't find the words to say what I mean and I always think of one particular song as the summary of the way I feel when I think of the one I love: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6ARxzCiUZ4 It says it all for me Love, friendship, respect do not unite people as much as common hatred for something. Notebooks Anton Chekhov Love is recognising someones faults and liking them anyway. Love is letting someone else be right for a change. Love is the piece of me that is you. skwirl As always I agree with you. TN sounds like you got a live one sweety do not drop your soap |
